Ahhhh, nostalgia...

It’s always an adventure going through old boxes of junk, an experience I’ve been having quite frequently as of late… it would take forever to tell you the full stories behind each item, but here are a few of the odds and ends I found in my box of things to scrapbook:

  • my i.d. card from junior high
  • the candy wrapper from a Kinder Schoko-Bons my best friend Shnookums brought me from Germany
  • the program from my grandmother’s funeral
  • the rough draft of a letter titled “Letter from an Ingrate” that I sent my AP English teacher a few years after high school
  • notes my friends passed me in elementary school
  • a signed contract for a bet my best friend Annadod and I signed when we were 15 over who would get asked out on the first date after we turned 16
  • a poem titled “Your Sweet Spirit” from my Secret Sister at girls’ camp
  • a valentine from my 3rd grade teacher
  • wedding announcements for the 2 greatest loves of my life (to this point)
  • the box and a letter of the survival package Shnookums and Rufus sent me while I was in Ecuador
  • intricately hand-decorated love notes from the girls I taught piano to in Ecuador
  • a wallet-size Glamour Shot of me at age 16
  • a photo of me and my companion burning a pair of nylons on our 1-year mark (we had to douse ‘em in hairspray first!)
  • a very large panoramic shot of all 120 members of my high school Concert Choir when we competed in Canada.
  • the boarding pass for the first flight I boarded all by myself
  • a bus transfer ticket for the day we ran out of “miles” for the month during my last transfer in the mission
  • a ragged ¼ sheet flier for the first club I joined in college (come to think of it, that may have been the only club I joined in college…)

I keep so much stuff like that as well. In fact, it is to the point now that I really need to start throwing it away to make room in our house for the growing family (really, I have like 3 boxes full of sentimental value stuff).

I would pay money to see your glamour shot-- somehow you just don't strike me as the glamour shot type :).

I have a lot of stuff like that too. Granted, it's gotten weeded through several times as things lose their sentimental value (hmm...why was this funny shaped rock important again?). Silly notes from elementary/middle school are all in one folder now (condensed down from 3...I've lost track of most of my school friends so the notes weren't as important anymore!)

I like sentimental stuff, but man, I hate boxing it up and moving it over and over and over. So the boxes have inevitably become lighter over the years!
