I remember the first time I voted. I was in Romania, so I had to vote via absentee ballot. I knew who I wanted to vote as president. I recall how perplexed I was to see so many other positions there were. I'd been out of the country for the vast majority of local campaigning, so I didn't know there was more than just the president to decide on!
I came a little more prepared this time. This time around Utah has a website that tells you where your voting location is and gives a sample ballot, with links to candidate websites and lengthy descriptions of amendments and proposals. Thank goodness. I was prepared this year!
I voted Libertarian this year for president (Bob Barr). I am not at all a fan of McCain or Obama; and while I know that one of them will be the next commander in chief, it won't be my doing. I would like to see more third party media coverage in the future. And participation in debates. I think the 2-party system gives us two options that will take us down the same path. Neither honestly represents change, no matter what their speech-writers scrawl.
