Tentative plan...

New York was fan-friggin'-tastic. I think I know what I want to do with my life now. I want to actively, meaningfully promote good things. How, you ask? Advertising. Web design. Graphic design. PR work. For non-profits.

And it just so happens that American University in DC offers a Public Communication program that focuses on just that. The assignment for one course is to find a local organization and work with them to build a website from the ground up! And in a setting like DC, I'm bound to find the kinds of organizations that I believe in (with job openings).

Also, my brother's fam is probably moving from Tennessee in the next few months, and I won't be able to accompany them. So here's the tentative plan for the next... while.:

In a couple of months, I'll move back to Utah and find temp work while I study for/take the GRE (like the ACT/SAT test for grad school) and get my grad school application ready to blow the minds of the admissions staff (to the degree that they'll beg me to come/offer me merit-based scholarships). Yeah. Wish me luck. To be considered for scholarships, I need to have my application in by February 1st 2010. Then sometime after that, I'll move to DC and find a job, then spend the next 2 years studying part-time (I could finish the degree in 10 months going full-time, but then I wouldn't be able to afford to eat...). I'll do an awesome internship at a non-profit agency and graduate with a portfolio that will make people want to employ me. And hopefully find the Mormon hippie man of my dreams while I'm at it.

You know, they say that if you want to make God laugh, just tell him your plans...

Well, I guess we've all got to start somewhere.

Sounds good to me. You'll never achieve anything if you don't first make a plan. You can always change it if you need to.
