Filling in holes

My blogging has been rather patchy lately, so I thought I'd fill in a few holes. I was hired at an office temp organization, and I've been a temp for a little over a month at a diabetic supply company. Mostly I call doctor's offices to request medical records and collect blood sugar testing logs from patients. Hooray for income! My first week's pay went to rent, second week's to buying contact lenses (I've been out of contacts for 6 months!), third week's to car insurance, fourth to the campus visit I'm planning for American U in DC, fifth to more rent, and this coming sixth week will go toward driving home. I'm not sure how long they'll keep me on as a temp at this job; I'm just grateful to be employed. There's a lot of uncertainty regarding the future. I'm not sure how long I'll be at this job, or if the temp agency will have something else short-term for me after it. We're not sure when Nathan will get a job, or where. We're not sure how much longer they'll stay in this house, or what they'll do with a house full of stuff if they move to a smaller apartment. I'm not sure how I'll get all my junk back home, since I've accumulated a few things. But we're all healthy, and the worst of our worries are over material things. So in all, life ain't too shabby.

Nathaniel's adoption was finalized earlier this month, and the temple sealing is planned for late November. He's a handful, but he's an awesome little guy. It's amazing how much progress he's made since he joined the family. He is now potty trained, dresses himself, feeds himself, speaks in sentences, and throws only minor fits a couple times a day. He knows his colors and is learning letters. He's broken through his "I only eat chicken nuggets and fry-fries" mentality and is gaining weight eating good food. He's still figuring out his role in the family, but he is doing pretty well emotionally. He's gotten pretty good about respecting boundaries. It'll be awesome to see him at his year mark.

He's gone from this:

It's looking like my time in Nashville is coming to a close, and I want to make it count. In the next few weeks I hope to visit my other brother's family in Ohio, visit American University in DC (it's much cheaper to fly to DC from TN than from UT), and do something quintessentially Nashvillian (undecided on the details... maybe catch a concert at the Grand Ol' Opry?). And, of course, seal my place in the hearts of the kids as favorite aunt ;) Let's face it - Aunt C is cooler than I am... but I'm not above bribery. I don't have a date set for heading back to Utah, but I'd like to make it there for Christmas. And since I don't want to drive alone, I might be able to con someone into driving with me, which will require a plane ticket. And the cost of a plane ticket spikes a week or so before Christmas. So maybe I'll head back early December. We'll see. It seems like every time get a plan set, it gets warped and twisted into utter un-usability.

Any other holes I've missed?

I love it when the holes get filled in. Let me know when plans get solidified. Do you want me to fly out and drive back with you? or will someone there drive out and fly back? Driving across country in December sounds more potentially scary, because of possible snow storms, than earlier in the year. But then life is an adventure isn't it?
