Well, folks, according to Bing Weather online, it's 3 degrees here in Rexburg, and with the wind chill, it feels like -8. Is it sad that there is a workout room 2 blocks away in the complex's clubhouse, and I drove to get there? It felt great to exercise, though.
I love my job. I hate moving. I went to my parents' house this weekend to pick up a box of dishes because we only have a few at my new apartment. I brought home several boxes of kitchen stuff, some camping gear, and a load of clean laundry. But it turns out I left the box of dishes on the couch. Dagnabbit! I just feel so foolish buying more, even at a second-hand store, knowing that box is taunting me from the couch 3 hours away.
Speaking of the weekend, it was pretty exciting. On Saturday my car hit a patch of ice and spun 180 degrees into oncoming traffic on a freeway onramp. Luckily, no one was tailgating me, and the cars behind were able to drive around me until I could get back into the right direction. Phew! I was on the way to my cousin's baby shower, and when I arrived, she told me she'd been praying that people would arrive safely. Proof that prayers are answered! Then on Sunday, I got pulled over for drunk driving. Somewhere in rural southern Idaho, I pulled into the left lane to pass a car. I got pulled over by a sherrif, who said it looked like I might have been swerving, and he was trying to clear the road of any leftover drunk drivers from the night before. Luckily, all I had on my breath was essence d'morning (sorry, officer! I forgot to brush my teeth!), and my license and registration were just dandy.
The best part of the weekend, though, was seeing my Provo friends. It'd been a long time! We got together with a bunch of musical instruments most of us didn't know how to play (jaw harp, nose flute, violin, bongo drums, accordian, etc.) and and a "jam session" (read: cacophonous ruckus). It was awesome. There is something wonderful about being around people you have a history with, who care about you, who you don't have to be on guard around. I guess that's why God created families. Anyhow, it was a great time.
