(This one's for you, BigRed) I found the 1980 version of Flash Gordon on TV while I was visiting some friends the other day. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's much like a Wagnerian opera - flashy (pardon the pun) costumes with bright colors, melodramatic acting, and a plot and script that stretch the limits of one's suspension of disbelief. This is the type of movie that creates cheesy stereotypes. I'm wondering if Mystery Science Theater 3000 has done anything with it yet. Anyhow, we jotted down some classic quotes.
Give me the remote control! Finish him!
Yes! I thought it was one of the prime numbers of Atolus Sirius! I haven't changed a bit!
It's Ming! They'll blow us to atoms!
Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!
All creatures will make merry under pain of death!
You shall be liquidated for treachery.
Impetuous boy! Ah, well - who wants to live forever?... Die! ... Die!
I give you my thanks, well, for giving a dumb old bird a second chance.
Flash! Flash! I love you! But we only have 14 hours to save the earth!
Go to the moon? No! I need to rescue my friends and save the earth!
My father always drinks a power potion before he makes love.
Promise me if you kill me you'll team up with Voltan!

Flash Gordon certainly did make an impression on Mystery Science Theater 3000, there's a quote from the MST3k movie where (i think it's crow) says in translation to one of the scientists on screen saying 'increase the flux capacitation' 'put more science stuff around and increase the flasdh gordon noise.
I'll bet you had a good time laughing your head off.
*giggles* I forgot how awful that movie was... but it's such a classic B-movie. And I wonder what other things MST3K has said about this movie.
I love MST3K!! Wow, those quotes are real gems hahaha
It was an incredible movie Bob! And our commentary only made it better. It is definitely worth owning. lol. Besides, we could all learn a lot from Flash. ROTFL

Lokon, I'm so glad you've seen the MST3K version. I didn't think they'd be able to resist.
Brock, I don't see how they could have scripted something that campy on accident. The irony is that *rumor has it* a remake is in the workings.
BFK, yes, we laughed whenever we weren't struck dumb with awe :)
Mandie, I wonder, too.
FeatherSky - have you seen Flash Gordon? I know N has. Great stuff...
BigRed, movies like that are so much enhanced by jovial company.
