Sore and stiff

Well, my co-worker had invited me to run with him as he joined a “running club,” but only one other person showed up. I guess the rest went to the campus Splash’n’Dash (whatever that is). So three of us ran. And I was lagging behind the whole time. At first they waited for me, but I hate to be a burden, so I told them to go ahead and catch up with me on their way back. Once they were out of sight, I turned around and headed back. They passed me again on the way back. Yeah. Kind of embarrassing. So I ran alone about 60% of the time. I don’t think I’ll be running with that group again. There’s no one slow enough. On the up side, my roommate and I might start running together. She’s not training for a marathon, so out-of-shape-Bob-speed might be bearable for her. Thank goodness for good friends.

I’ve decided to tweak my Lent fast a bit. After much ponderance, soul-searching, and deliberation, I’ve decided that it’s all my parents’ fault I’m sarcastic. It’s genetic. On both sides. There’s no way out of it. And I’m sure there’s some Freudian way I was brought up that can also reflect poorly on my folks, too. I’ve got sarcastic fixation or something. But anyway, the point is that I’m tweaking my fast to give up MEAN sarcasm rather than the more neutral kind. That in itself will be a big enough challenge. This way I have a chance of not being a fantastic failure every day for the next 35 days. Again, wish me luck.

Exactly. I think sarcasm is one the higher forms of humor. The tricky part is how to use it without being mean or making someone the end of the joke. Though not for Lent, I am trying to eliminate cutting remarks I find making about people I don't even know. I didn't used to do that. And well, I think I'd be a better person if I stop. Keep the sarcasm Bob, it's a good part of your personality. Just find the balance of keeping it friendly sarcasm.

*MUAHAHAHAHAHAAA!* I knew that if I just talked to you on the phone I'd be able to get you to come and rejoin our dark side ;)

I agree with BigRed, sarcasm wisely used is hysterical. I think it's a great part of your sense of humor. Keep it coming!!! :)

I think you should choose to give up living so far away from your niece and nephew for Lent. We've still got an open space on the floor in Jenacy's room that has your name written all over it!!

Hee hee! Remember our running adventures in Romania? *Sigh* Those were the days, eh? Well, I have also tried to get back on the running pattern. The other day I was jogging for what seemed like hours--I must have gone miles. I got back home and the clock said I'd been gone for ten minutes. Of course I checked all the other clocks. And as long as your sarcasm isn't directed to my mad running skills, I think you're okay.

BigRed - dude, where have you been all my life (i.e. last weekend)? Ma ajuti sa fac caseta pentru prietena mea?

Brock - thanks! Did you get the email with the drawing yet? I sent it yesterday.

FeatherSky - boy, howdy. Would I love to just drop the whole 'avoiding my nieces and nephews' habit! If only BYU had a real spring break...

Erin - Welcome to the blogging world!
You were the Romanian running champ, girlfriend. You and the Yipper. Doesn't it feel good to be able to run in public and not get all the weird stares and shouts?
