On Empowerment

I came upon this awesome quote and had to share it. It's sage advice for parenting, counseling, working as a humanitarian, or generally acting as a leader:

Go to the people,
Live among them,
Learn from them,
Start from where they are
Work with them
Build on what they have
But of the best leaders, when the task is accomplished, the work completed;
The people all remark:
"We have done it ourselves."

--Lao Tsu

I think I have heard Randy say something like this.
He believes in getting dirty with his soldiers, showing them the way by example.
Love this mightybob.

Right on, mightybob.

When they hear of the Way,
the wise minds practise it.
The average minds think about it and practise it once in a while.
The weak minds laugh at it.
If they didn't laugh at it,
It wouldn't be the Way.

(Also Lao-Tsu, translated by Benjamin Hoff and paraphrased by me.)
